On July 5th, Pride in London had a parade in celebration of pride. This came mere weeks after the UK’s ruling on definitions of terms in the Equality Act 2010.

The April 2025 ruling set out “woman” and “man” to be defined based on biological sex.

Even with the impacts this ruling could have on the lives of transgender people, London still went ahead with celebrating pride month. Festivities included a parade and seven stages around the city, with some being dedicated spaces for certain groups such as women and nonbinary performers, trans artists, and drag performers.

The event, costing £1.7 million to produce, was funded entirely by donations, partnerships, and fundraising so it would be free for people to attend. The effort put towards making Pride in London happen easily dwarfs any support for anti-trans movement, including the £70k JK Rowling donated to For Women Scotland for the legal proceedings.

As Gen Alpha would say, it’s giving Stonewall.
